Easily digested tidbits on
healthy food for the family
Favourite Family RecipesHere are some of our favourite family recipes. Some are more healthy than others but because I prepare them myself (or have tested them) I am confident in recommending every one.
Recipes and making them isn't always a joy. My friend Miriam confesses to having a recipe phobia. Good thing she can laugh about it while she is conquering her phobia.
Pottering around in the kitchen is my meditation, my sanity. I just love the feel of food and working with it. One thing I do is play with recipes. I might make a thing once 'by the book' but by the second time I'm already adapting it. But the essence of the recipe stays the same and over time I develop some real family favourites.

A delicious chocolate swiss roll made from rice flour for the wheat intolerant. I used this Swiss Roll to make the engine of the Train Cake for Benjamin's birthday.
This raw tomato soup was a special request from my brother Johan for our Sunday raw food experience. Adding the avocado was his recommendation and it works like a bomb.
This is a real easy recipe for a delicious home made chocolate sweet. You just mix the ingredients together - no particular order either. Just plonk it and add water/liquor to get it to the consistency of your liking.
Play with the ratio between cocoa and honey. We love our Avocado Chocolate Mousse bitter and not so sweet, but you may prefer otherwise.
This Seed-stuffed Butternut recipe is adapted from Mary-Ann Shearer's 'The Natural way' Recipe Book One to include more raw ingredients.
This Carrot and sweet potato casserole recipe is adapted from Mary-Ann Shearer's 'The Natural way' Recipe Book One to include more raw ingredients.
A delicious chocolate cake recipe with a rye flour variation for the wheat intolerant. I used this Chocolate Cake to make the sections of the Train Cake for Benjamin's birthday.
I used these date balls for the coals of Benjamin's birthday cake. But they also make and excellent treat for a lunchbox.
Or fruit and nut and what you can add squares. I use these fruit squares as a healthy snack or as a nice treat for a lunch box.
Here in Africa we have no use for hot steaming puddings in summer and if you want to try something other than trifle, try this recipe. Not only is it a good alternative, but a whole lot healthier. I have been converted to ice cream as a major healthy treat alternative.
Do you have your own favourite and healthy family recipe? The one recipe you cannot do without? I would like to hear about your recipe.
Share your recipe with me and if I like it I will add it to my site. I will try your recipe out of course and add my own comments on what I like. If you have your own website that could also mean a link back to your site.
