about Food that Feeds the Family
Tired of trying to be healthy? Exhausted from resisting your children's nagging for unhealthy foods? Sick of your own bad choices? Had enough of the struggle? Is there no one out there who can give you help and support? You came to the right place!
It is 7 in the morning, you have a million things to do before you and your family will be ready for work and school. You are still trying to get Junior dressed and the lift is already hooting at the gate. No time to think about what to put in his lunchbox so you grab a handful of strawberry flavoured wafer biscuits and a cheese wedge. You will do something healthier next time...
It is now 10 o’clock. Breakfast is long gone and you were too rushed to enjoy it anyway. You are at work now and absolutely starving. Blood sugar has dropped and its time to take a few minutes for yourself. A cup of coffee and a muffin from the cafeteria is just the thing. Muffins are healthy right...?
6 pm and you have survived the grocery shopping with all ego’s in tact. Both kids had been manageable and you are in the line ready to start unpacking the trolly. “Can I have this?” your eldest asks holding up a packet of hideously coloured cornchips. You should say no, but he’s been good and you don’t want to spoil it now, so you don’t...
Finally it is 9 pm. everyone had been fed, bathed and read to. The dishes are neatly stacked and you plonk down on the couch with a cup of herbal tea. What a day! You deserve a treat so you reach for the chocolate drawer.
I have been there and I find myself there again from time to time.
Wouldn't it be great if you could pack Junior's lunch box with equal speed, but with good healthy snacks? What if you could get to lunchtime without having had a midmorning slump and needed to be rescued by coffee and sugar? What if you had energy and resilience left at 5 pm to say to your oldest 'You must be kidding! We don't eat those yucky red things, have one of these instead' and grab something from your trolley that she likes and you approve of? As for the chocolate drawer, wouldn't it be great to indulge at the end of the day in a treat that comes with no guilt attached?
Together let’s turn and learn to run up the food slide!
Have you ever seen little kids Zip down the slide of a jungle gym only to turn around and run up it again? Have you seen the glee in their faces at achieving this feat for the first time? This is what I wish for all of us. That we will see it as a challenge and one we can't wait to overcome!
